Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) is an American actor, singer, and dancer. In her early Broadway roles, she played in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The role she played in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in a Play. Annaleigh Ashford is a Tony Award winner actor has worked alongside well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford continues to build on her award-winning career through her forthcoming projects. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's upcoming project will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust which he is starring in with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC in the form of a Hulu Original. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway in the month of March 2023 in which he'll be starring alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who brought us Hamilton directed the show. Ashford's most recent part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on a national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Ashford was a part of two seasons in the CBS successful comedy B Positive. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin, Hector Elizondo, as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie on You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Some other Broadway credits for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this role, she earned a Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a Denver resident who splits his time in Los Angeles.
